Does the sun rise
if we don't watch it
or does it just
become light?
I can set my alarm
for five a.m.
or I can sleep
beyond the night
If every daybreak
that I don't witness
is a day
that doesn't really start
then I won't grieve
the loss of sleep
because what I gain
can't be contained
It fills my soul
and jumpstarts my heart
