18/365 - Your Guess Is As Good As Mine

Why is there a doll

hanging from a tree

with a smile on her face

for all the world to see?

Did someone brush her red hair

and polish her red shoes?

Was she loved and cared for?

Was she someone's to lose?

Or perhaps her situation is a result

of longstanding sibling rivalry

A moment of contention, an ultimatum,

a threat not taken seriously.

Or is she more than just a doll?

Is she a red haired sentry?

Standing guard over a a secret clubhouse

hidden amongst the shrubbery.

She must have been loved once, so dearly

but maybe her someone has outgrown her

and so they placed her in this tree

in search of her new owner.

17/365 - Pleasure

It starts with a touch
a gentle caress
soft meets soft
sweet tenderness
and the response
the skin relaxing
the back arches
the pupils waxing
and from deep down inside
a sound starts to emerge
as you pet his orange head
the little cat purrs

16/365 - Lesson

The bee doesn't care
that you didn't plant them there
The bee doesn't see
that it is a weed
All the bee knows
is wherever the flower grows
it gives the bee
what it needs
Perhaps we should all
be like the bee

15/365 - Your Fair Share

I'm so sorry

for what happened to you

before you were found

A mop of matted yellow fur

racing down the street

(a blur)

But you were scooped up!

and bathed!

and brushed!

Though soap and water

couldn't erase

the forlorn look

written on your face

as you stood in the corner

of that steel concrete cage

And that's where we found you

and took you away

to a home

and a bed

and two meals (everyday)

and most importantly of all

(yes even more than walks)

is how much you are loved

because it's lots and lots

14/365 - Daunting

The expectations
of existence
are endless

Like a great mountain

-Whitney-
-Kilimanjaro-
-Everest-

Whose peak is shrouded
in a hooded cloak
of ethereal clouds

But you know
it's there
somewhere
so you climb
always expecting
to break through the mist
and see at last
the snow capped summit

and that promise
keeps you going

through the ever
changing landscape

and the switchbacks

of the scrub trails

but aside from
some pockets of clarity
the haze never clears
the apex never appears

13/365 - Create

The whole of the universe
is driven to create
Nothing is
without being made
Something from something
becomes something else
We all want to leave
a piece of ourselves
but it's impossible to exist
without leaving our mark
even destruction
creates a new spark

12/365 Your Chariot Awaits

Waiting patiently in the dark

for the next adventure to start

I know that soon you will awake

and we'll ride out together to see dawn break

But time it passes so slowly here

Still our moment must be near

I anticipate the creak of the door

as it scrapes across the floor

But your silhouette does not appear

My expectation turns to fear

And in the shadows grey light creeps

as daylight rouses all that sleeps

I am resigned to wait some more

watching the sun's rays crawl across the floor

until the long light of afternoon

fills my little waiting room

But just as I had given up hope

the silence of my misery broke

because finally you had arrived

stroking my handlebars you sat astride

and together we peddled into twilight

When its just you and me, all is finally right

Asking Permission

Did I mean to or not? Am I sorry or did I just get caught? Your mad because you say You can never know either way But if I had just asked ...
