152/365 - Ordnance

Chasing the onyx sky
across the Pantone color change
the schedule says 5:45
but the East Bay hills
keep the sun languishing in bed
I reach the point
as the pink shifts to gold
by degrees
until it explodes
over the horizon
the dawning
of a day
that will linger longer
until the end
when the sun's tucked in
again
with thoughts
of tomorrow's
sleep-in
