291/365 - Disreputable

When the good burner
turns bad
The best burner
becomes the worst
The favorite burner
turns on you
by refusing to
turn on
or rather
by refusing to light
but happily filling
the kitchen with gas
Is ten years the limit
when the switch is flipped
It was the dishwasher
last year
the furnace
the year before
What's next?
The fridge?
What else will decide
not to work anymore?

290/365 - Favoritism

It's not that I
play favorites per se
it's more like who
is pissing me off less today
Oh you climbed
to the dop shelf and
knocked a bowl down?
At least it didn't break
Oh you peed in the house
while we were out?
At least the wood floor
wasn't stained
But in the end
you're adorable and fuzzy
and I love you both
just the same

289/365 - Sea

I chased my dreams
to the edge
where the water
meets the land
And I stood there
helplessly
sinking slowly
in the sand
As I watched them
drop in the sea
with the
setting sun
I ignored the sign
warning me
and dove in to chase
every one

288/365 - Pompadour

It's a work of art
I say
this hairstyle
my pillow has made
A new surprise
everyday
guaranteed to scare
small children away

287/365 - Cote

He has flown
the coop
from Halloween décor
to permanent roost
Disco penguin
skeleton bird
parrots your moods
with lights
not words
red for evil
and blue for sad
green for ------
and yellow for glad
he's the best mood-ring
he's the next fad!

286/365 - Vegetation

Oh no
here we go
It's that time of year
again
The rains are here
the green leaves appear
oxalis is not
my friend

285/365 - Universal

Hooray for a rainy day
when all the other dogs
stay away
It's Fred's time
to go out and play
A reactive pup's
holiday
long rambling walks
without a worry
I can hear the whining
behind closed doors
but don't worry about that Fred
the street's all yours
we'll walk as long
as the raindrops fall
and have a puddle splashing
free-for-all

Asking Permission

Did I mean to or not? Am I sorry or did I just get caught? Your mad because you say You can never know either way But if I had just asked ...
